Videoconferencing & Distance Learning

Videoconferencing is a growing technology. It saves time, energy, & money in traveling. More often than not, there's more involved in a video conference than just speaking "face-to-face."

Collaborative annotation over LAN or Internet becomes a reality with the MULTIPOINT system for PointmakerŪ Video Markers, by adding annotation to your existing videoconference system. Now, two or more people can interactively mark over shared video images, bringing a Pointmaker focus to meetings, whether participants are a floor, a city, or a country away.

The server software which coordinates the annotation information from each meeting attendee is available free of charge. You can have it emailed to you by filling out this form.

From going over a critical specification document to watching a live surgery, the Pointmaker is a critical piece used to:

Focus remote and local viewer attention to the same details

Clarify a complex visual image

Sustain audience attention

Increase retention with an annotated point

Allow both remote and local sides to interact with shared images using colorful markings

Pointmaker will also add a flashy attention-grabbing element. The Pointmaker makes video conferencing effective, powerful, and memorable for everyone.

Which model do I choose?

Which model and what options you choose for your application depends on your existing set-up. Some questions to ask are: Do you want to draw over video, computer, or both? Do you want to draw from one touchscreen/tablet, or more than one?

Which options do I choose?

All Pointmaker models come standard with two RS-232 communication ports. The options COMM-4, COMM-8, and COMM-4A allow you to add additional communication ports for touch screens, tablets, and/or third party control. You can not add these options to any other models, except the PVI-83 and the PVI-X90. (COMM-4A adds 4 additional COMM ports, an audio follow video switch, and is only for the PVI-X90.)

Typically in video conferencing video signals are being transmitted. The following table offers links to more extensive information to help you decide which model and configuration will work best in your environment. If you have any questions or need any further information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
