In the Broadcast Studio
Broadcast
Monday Night Football is one place where a Pointmaker video marker got it's 15 minutes of fame: John Madden uses our Professional Broadcast Video Marker(PVI-64) in conjunction with a Smart Board to make live annotations over video. The result: many more people understand the details of what just happened in that last play.
Pointmaker video markers have also been used to help viewers learn the subtleties of scoring olympic activities. TV stations throughout the world are currently using them to make weather patterns understandable, to identify problem traffic areas, and to bring better focus to difficult news stories.
In the past there were two main models used in broadcasting. The PVI-64 and CS-64. Both draw over either composite or S-video.
As more and more applications move toward SDI video, Boeckeler now offers the PVI-65 that draws on SD/HD SDI, resolutions up to 1080i, 720p.
All three units allowing the user to:
Focus and sustain live audience attention
Give control to either talent or technician
Sustain audience attention
Have preview and program out, key out, timing adjustments(PVI-64 and CS-64 only), and other broadcast market specific features
The Pointmaker broadcast models are easy to use and install. They can be used for pre-recorded, live broadcast, or post production, and are compatiable with most production budgets.
Which model do I choose?
Which model and what options you choose for your application depends on your existing set-up. Some questions to ask are: Do you want to draw over analog video or HDSDI. Do you want to draw from one touchscreen/tablet, or a large electronic white board?
Typically in the broadcast studio most people are currently running analog through- out the studio and then convert to digital before broadcasting. More and more studios are going all digital.
Typically in broadcast applications, there are three main models used. The following table offers links to more extensive information to help you decide which model and configuration will work best in your environment.
