Videoconferencing (Point-to-Point - 2-way drawing)
The Pointmaker can be used in a video conferencing environment wherein a local and remote site can each draw over a shared video/computer image. Each site can view both its own markers and the markers used at the remote end (provided a Pointmaker is at each end).
Conceptually, The Pointmaker in videoconferencing does not annotate on video before it is transmitted to the far end. It requires a codec data port to transmit instructions to the far end Pointmaker which then annotates on the video.
The most common video connections used in videoconferencing applications are composite or Y/C video. Unless otherwise noted, the video lines depicted in these configurations represent either composite video or Y/C.
Codecs are the preferred method of linking Pointmakers in videoconferencing. However, if the data port on the codec is not available for the Pointmaker, a modem may be required for drawing transmission.
